Panda VPN 9.7.1 for Android

Panda VPN 9.7.1 is the Android app of PandaVPN, a virtual private network service from PandaVPN Studio. It encrypts your phone's connection and sends it through the provider's servers, hiding your IP address from websites. You can download Panda VPN for Android from Google Play or from the official PandaVPN site.

Quick facts

• Version: 9.7.1
• Developer: PandaVPN Studio
• Type: VPN service
• Other platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android TV and a command-line client
• Licence: free to download
• Size: about 13.18 MB according to catalogue data

Panda VPN is not related to Panda Security, the antivirus company; the similar names are a coincidence.

What it is good for

PandaVPN is built as a multi-platform service: the same account works on a phone, a computer and a TV box, with installers for each system on the official download page. That makes it practical for households or travellers who want one VPN across their devices. On Android the app offers one-tap connection and a list of server locations. As with every VPN, the main benefits are encryption on untrusted networks such as hotel Wi-Fi and a different IP address for the websites you visit. Speed depends on the server's distance and load, so a nearby location is usually faster for video calls and streaming.

Guide: install and connect

1. Install the app from the Panda VPN page on Google Play, or get the APK from the official download page if Play is not available on your device.
2. Open the app and sign in or create an account.
3. Choose a server location and tap connect.
4. Allow Android to set up the VPN connection.
5. If the app misbehaves after an update, uninstall it and install the latest version again, as the getting started FAQ suggests.

Using it on several devices

For a computer, go to the official download page, choose Windows, macOS or Linux and follow the installer prompts. Android TV boxes use a separate APK, and advanced users can pick the command-line client for their chip architecture. Signing in with the same account on each device keeps your settings in one place, but check how many devices your plan allows at the same time.

Privacy and legal notes

A VPN provider can see which servers you connect to, so read PandaVPN's privacy policy and terms before relying on it. Subscriptions and trials are described on the official site; check them before paying. VPN use is restricted in some countries and on many school and work networks, so follow the rules that apply to you. Avoid "premium unlocked" APKs from third-party sites.

Pros and cons

• Pro: apps for Android, Android TV, Windows, macOS and Linux.
• Pro: one account across devices.
• Pro: official APK available if Play is missing.
• Con: full use depends on a subscription.
• Con: the name is easy to confuse with an antivirus brand.
